Apple’s 30% Fee for Facebook and IG Ads Expands to More Regions
I know this might come as a surprise, but there’s been yet another update in the ever-evolving world of Facebook!
Obviously another Facebook update isn’t all that shocking but it’s definitely something new that might shake up how you handle your ad campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. Apple has expanded its policy to take a 30% commission on in-app purchases, including ads bought through these platforms, in more regions.
We know this sounds like an extra hurdle, especially for those of us who are always on the move. While waiting to access a desktop PC to make purchases can help avoid these costs, it’s not always practical. Apple is betting on this convenience, tilting the scales a bit in their favor.
App makers selling to U.S. customers can add links and buttons inside their apps that redirect users to an external website to input their credit card information. However, Apple also includes pop-up security warnings and requires Apple Pay to be an option on these pages.
Meta can implement similar measures, but it’s not a perfect fix and currently only applies in the U.S. So, if you’re purchasing Facebook and Instagram ads through your device, it might be time to rethink your strategy.
But don’t worry, we’re here to help you navigate these changes! Our mission is to make sure you’re getting the most out of your ad spend, even with these new challenges. Let’s tackle this together and keep your campaigns running smoothly and effectively!
Here’s how to avoid Apple’s 30% fee:
1. Boost Content from Facebook.com: Boost your posts without the Apple service fee by using your computer or preferred mobile web browser to access Facebook.com. Enjoy all the same features as boosting from the app, hassle-free.
2. Add Prepaid Funds to Your Ad Account: Head to the payment settings on Facebook.com to add prepaid funds to your ad account. These funds can be used to boost posts on the Facebook iOS app without incurring the Apple service fee.
3. Boost Content from Meta Business Suite: Manage your content and boost posts without paying the Apple service fee by downloading the Meta Business Suite app or visiting it from your computer.
4. Create Ads from Meta Ads Manager: Create ads without paying the Apple service fee by downloading the Meta Ads Manager app or using it from your computer.
